Thanks for visiting!
Offered is a very rare item for the specialist; a well preserved and essentially complete 7cm skull and 6.5cm upper body of the Termnospondyl Watsonisuchus madagascarensi from the Lower Triassic; Dienentian, Middle Sankamena Formation of Bororoha, Madagascar.
Dorso-ventrally preserved, with good 3D relief of the skull, the bones are replaced with limonite; the skull and shows the mid-position of the orbits, all of the cranial plates and both upper and lower mandibles with dentition.
The anterior vertebral column, with lateral ribs that will prepare further, is intact and the distinct surface ornamentation of the pectoral and scapular bones reserved sharply. Termnospondyls are regarded as semi-aquatic tetrapod vertebrates, probably ancesteral to modern amphibia such as salamanders ................in all a fascinating legacy of early Permian colonization of land.
Matrix approx. 14.5cm X 8.5cm X 1cm.
Although I sell a very wide range of fossils from Pre- Cambrian to Pleistocene age, I specialize in trilobites from all over the globe and in particular, British species.
I collect regularly in the UK, with more than forty five years of fieldwork experience and probably the best working knowledge of British trilobite localities. I have a doctorate and a masters degree in trilobite taxonomy and British Palaeozoic stratigraphy and an Open University degree in Natural Sciences.
If you are an amateur collector, a more serious scientific collector, or an agent for an educational organization ( e.g College, University or Museum), I can supply materials to suit your needs! I also buy whole collections and trade materials too. Visits are welcome,by appointment only.
