Offered is a rare and finely preserved multiple example of two newly discovered Upper Ordovician Starfish,as yet undescribed, from the basal Sandbian of Bou Nemrou , Morocco.
Two of the specimens (each 2cm) are essentially complete with all five arms, and the third and largest (2.5cm) shows only 3 arms, with the rest of the ani,al truncated by a natural jopint.
All three specimens, representing two distinct species. retain original calcitic shell and fine detail of the peripheral plates on all arms, and all with distinct hair-like structures, best seen under magnification. These area true asteroid starfish, rather than ophiurids, Matrix approx. 4.5cm X 4.5cm X 1.5cm.
New find: rare multiple (2cm and 2.5cm,) and undescribed starfish with shell: two separate species: Late Ordovician of Morocco
Although I sell a very wide range of fossils from Pre- Cambrian to Pleistocene age, I specialize in trilobites from all over the globe and in particular, British species.
I collect regularly in the UK, with more than forty five years of fieldwork experience and probably the best working knowledge of British trilobite localities. I have a doctorate and a masters degree in trilobite taxonomy and British Palaeozoic stratigraphy and an Open University degree in Natural Sciences.
If you are an amateur collector, a more serious scientific collector, or an agent for an educational organization ( e.g College, University or Museum), I can supply materials to suit your needs! I also buy whole collections and trade materials too. Visits are welcome,by appointment only.
