Thanks for visiting!
Offered is a very well preserved and increasingly rare item for the specialist trilobite collector; a piece of matrix approx. 6.5cm X 4cm X 1.5cm preserving a 5cm complete and articulated example of Tapinocalymene nodulosa (Shirley), from the Middle Silurian, Wenlock Series of Ape Dale, Shropshire.
The specimen is prone and is in 3D relief with all of the original shell intact, and has the anterior cephalic spathe intact too. Both librigena are intact also, albeit slightly rotated beneath the cranidium..........in all, a very displayable and well above average example; shell material is delicate and often lost in the collecting process.
Great price price for such a well preserved prone example of this localised Calymenid, a close relative to the more famous and contemporary 'Dudley Bug' C. blumenbachi.
Although I sell a very wide range of fossils from Pre- Cambrian to Pleistocene age, I specialize in trilobites from all over the globe and in particular, British species.
I collect regularly in the UK, with more than forty five years of fieldwork experience and probably the best working knowledge of British trilobite localities. I have a doctorate and a masters degree in trilobite taxonomy and British Palaeozoic stratigraphy and an Open University degree in Natural Sciences.
If you are an amateur collector, a more serious scientific collector, or an agent for an educational organization ( e.g College, University or Museum), I can supply materials to suit your needs! I also buy whole collections and trade materials too. Visits are welcome,by appointment only.
