Offered from the world famous Messel pit of Lower Eocene age at Darmstadt, Germany, is a fine and complete good sized (13cm) example of the Perch Amhiperca multiformis Barsch.
Preserved in lateral view, this exceptional specimen shows fine detail of the skull, including an orbit, upper and lower jaws forming an open mouth, and the bony operculum. Dorsal and ventral fins and spines, several raised in the defensive mode, are finely preserved and the tail; fin is intact too...........the spine and all of the ribs are perfectly preserved too............in all a superb and displayable example of this increasingly uncommon Messel fish, mounted onto a resin matrix in the time honoured way. Matrix 20.5cm X 10.5cm.X 1cm.
Excellent price for such a perfect specimen from a classic locality.
Although I sell a very wide range of fossils from Pre- Cambrian to Pleistocene age, I specialize in trilobites from all over the globe and in particular, British species.
I collect regularly in the UK, with more than forty five years of fieldwork experience and probably the best working knowledge of British trilobite localities. I have a doctorate and a masters degree in trilobite taxonomy and British Palaeozoic stratigraphy and an Open University degree in Natural Sciences.
If you are an amateur collector, a more serious scientific collector, or an agent for an educational organization ( e.g College, University or Museum), I can supply materials to suit your needs! I also buy whole collections and trade materials too. Visits are welcome,by appointment only.
